SINGER & COLLABORATOR

PIANO & VOCAL COACH

Music has helped me create so many meaningful connections. There is nothing like getting together with other collaborators and sharing our craft to celebrate a lifetime bond. I love collaborating for weddings and celebratory events. Our focus is R&B and popular covers. We are gifted in being able to read a room and play according to the vibe of the celebrants.

Despite being a teacher myself, I continue to progress through my lifelong learning journey with music. I love to learn about chord progressions, collaboration, harmony, artistry, and performance. I have always wanted to share my knowledge because it helps me and my students find our place in our practice.

Take a look at some clips of my collaborations with some of my favourite musicians and friends. Let’s jam together sometime.

My Musical Journey

lj at seven

I found my love for singing at a young age.

royal music
conservatory

At 11, I began learning Classical voice & piano at the Royal Music Conservatory in Calgary.

are you a FLAMES FAN?

I have trained with Heather Natividad, national anthem singer for all Calgary Flames home games.

RIP MRS. BALA

You were one of the greatest classical piano teachers of all time.

Hollywood &
vine co. music

My curiosity for music led me to explore different genres. I learned lots about R&B and pop vocal technique at a private school called Hollywood & Vine Co. Music, where I attended for over four years.

Remember
Canadian Idol?

When I was 16, I auditioned for Canadian Idol. I made it through three audition rounds in Calgary. The following year, I made top 45 in the Edmonton auditions.

Being part of several cover bands and being connected to musicians with decades of experience beyond me taught me how effortless music can be when you have the right tools for learning. At 18, I joined a singing group with an old teacher, Toshi Jackson. Together, we made part of a Motown cover group called Toshi Jackson and the Silhouettes, as an ode to The Supremes. This is where I learned a lot about choreography, harmony, and working harmoniously with a group. We performed in venues around Alberta - this was my first taste of touring.

The Silhouettes

I like to sing at weddings and charity events. I’ve had great fun in judging singing and performance competitions. I’ve placed in several singing competitions, like the Youth Talent Showdown at the Calgary Stampede.

This & That

I began teaching beginner piano and voice at Music Makers when I was nineteen. For the last ten years, I have been working closely with a friend and business owner at Leroux Music Studios, which has been voted one of the top three vocal schools in Calgary.

Teaching Music

Now what?

I still continue to teach beginner piano and voice. I enjoy teaching the basics because I think they are so important.

WEDDINGS & EVENTS

I have also been focusing on collaborating in trios for weddings and various events. Our musical style is R&B and popular covers. We are gifted in being able to read a room and play according to the vibe of the celebrants.
